Scott in T-shirt

This is a project that was a while in the making. I started this in the summer of 2015, inspired by Disney’s Big Hero Six and the Obey Propaganda shirts. Seeing the word connection between the two, I tried to connect both the visual styles. Originally, I was going to cut out the design from wax paper, iron it on to a black shirt and then fade the print with a bleach mixture. The summer, however, went by a lot faster than I expected and the plan got put on the back burner.

Fast forward to October 2016, Jacob’s Hall started holding a series of workshops to help train students on the their machines and promote themselves. The workshop I found out about was the t-shirt design workshop. Jacob’s has a vinyl cutting machine that can precisely cut out Adobe illustrator files. I thought it was pretty interesting to learn that the machine uses a physical blade rather than a laser or anything. The workshop was super cool, and I was able to cut out and press my shirt. You can see on the table nearby a previous attempt with the negative. Hopefully I can make more shirts like these in the future.
